Arduino Projects

USITT Session

I helped to teach Arduino use and programming at the United States Institute for Theatre Technology's National Conference in Milwaukee, WI.  This master session was led by Rick Mayfield.  This was an advertisment example I put together for the session.  I also included a buzzer project that would play the Star Wars Theme song, color changing LED, and helped walk through basic examples from a teaching packet.

Dart Thrower

This project controlled three servo motors which allowed for pan, tilt, and arming. This was in order to control a friction drive that would throw a dart.  This box also controlled motor speed and on/off function of the motor.

Dart Thrower Control Box

The control on the right pushed the dart into the friction drive.  The potentiometers on the left controlled pan/tilt.  The rocker switches controlled lighting and motor on.

Dart Thrower Mechanic Prototype

This was the prototype for the dart thrower.  This crude model worked well for pan, tilt, and arming.  The downfall was the lack of a real bearing for the axles.  What I found was that when the axles would bind I would lose too much speed from the motor.  When the drive wheels were not binding darts threw quite well.  If I were to build this again I woud include more adjustment and proper mechanics.
